| Cubans: Real vs Fake Hello, I am hoping you can help me. Attached is a link of seven images I combined into one. They are of a box of 3 Cohiba cigars I was given as a gift. They were bought while on a cruise. While I have done research online, some of the things lean towards authentic and some lean towards inconclusive/counterfeit, especially since I have no other experience or boxes to compare this one against. I was hoping you could take a look at the images and tell me your best opinion. Real or fake I am understanding, I would just like to know what I am smoking when I open the box, and if I should chalk this experience to authentic Cuban Cigars or knock offs. Why I think they are real: The tax seal looks rich in color, and the depth and fineness of print seem to be comparable to authentic seals I have seen online. The "habanos" label appears to match with legit boxes, 2 bold gold lines with 2 thin black lines in between, the black tobacco leaf as well as the coloring and style of font used. The label on the back appears to match more authentic boxes as well with the detail and fineness in print there (no choppy/broken or misshaped lettering. Why I am unsure: The side latch is fairly plain in comparison to some I have seen, but I have not seen a box of 3 like this online. There is no location on the box that has the company name burned into it, nor does it have a production date. I have not seen a hologram like this on a box, but again I have no real experience. I know it all comes down to the experienced eye and I am hoping you can help define which category these cigars fit into; authentic or counterfeit? REVISED LINK Thank you in advance Last edited by cigarnub : 02-26-2008 at 12:45 PM. |

| I wish I could help ya there cigarnub, but my experience with the cubans only lasted as long as my stay at guantanimo bay back in 1974. They had that kinda vanilla cream taste back then. The only ones I been havin since then was given ta me, and I be sure they were fakes , cause they neither had the taste nor did they sit me back in a chair like they did back in tha day. No help, I know but I thought ya might at least appreciate a response ta ya post. |
