Cedar Lined Travel Case

My quesiton is regarding travel cases lined with cedar. would i have to humidify the case for it to carry a cigar safetly? i mean if i put a fresh cigar in would the cedar just dry out the cigar? is there a signifiant advantage to have it lined with cedar?

thanks in advance!

travel humidors

Yes you need to humidify your case by moistening the cedar lining with distilled water with a clean sponge or wrag and put in a moisture device of some sort. Dry cedar will of course absord moisture from wherever it can get it...including your cigars. If your cigars that you put in the case are already stable with moisture you would be okay for a while without a humidifier depending on how dry your cedar is and what your moisture level is in the case prior to putting cigars in it and how much you open the case and the humidity outside the case. Also, yes it is very beneficial to have your travel humidor lined with cedar. Depending on how long you're traveling some other more basic travel humidors will do fine but the cedar lining acts just like your humidor at home and allows your cigars to breathe and mature and take on it's pleasant qualities that the cedar gives it. However, cedar lined travel humi's generaly come at a premium so if you want to save some cash, a good foam lined case with a small humidifier or water pouch in it works great. Just make sure you open it up and let your cigars get some air once in a while.
